Dr. Oppenheimer, a nuclear physicist in our research and development lab, has suffered a mental breakdown.  He has gotten control of our experimental sub, "Dolphin," which has the capability to destroy the world.  Your mission is to man the battleship "Falcon" and search sectors 1 thru 60.  Unfortunately, for the safety of the world, you must destroy the "Dolphin" using depth charges.  Be careful, we have information that Dr. Oppenheimer has mined the area and also has full use of powerful lasers capable of destroying the "Falcon."

Using the keyboard, enter the sector number which you wish to depth charge.  (NOTE: Put zero (0) first when entering numbers 1-9), then press "go" to fire.  You cannot enter a sector which has been eliminated by either laser beam or depth charge.

For replay press any key!!!!!

No need to press go now.

Fred: I have recorded this revised game under your cassette.  So you now have an improved version at your disposal.  This version uses the keyboard in a smooth way.  Try it!

On June 29, 2023, Nate Reeder noted to the Astrocade discussion group:

This is a 600DPI scan of L&M Software Search and Destroy instructions.  I have some newsletters that are addressed to someone named Fred.  This page has his name on it.  It says that his cassette has an improved version of the game.  The 3 in the copyright date 1983 is written on the page over whiteout.  I am not able to see a different number under the whiteout.

I am not certain but the page may have been signed by Bill Loos.  I do not know how to confirm that it is a real signature.  When I hold the page up to a light source it appears to be written in ink.
